Side Effects

Studies display minimal side effects when MSM is taken orally in a dosage of 3 grams daily for six months, although some people may experience mild gastrointestinal side effects such as discomfort or diarrhea.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding,  it’s best not to take it, unless you have discussed this with your doctor (as with all supplements). Not enough information is available to clarify its safety in these situations. Since MSM is a sulfa drug, do NOT take it if you have allergies to sulfa.

Interactions

There doesn’t appear to be an interaction between MSM and medications, herbs, supplements, or foods.
